Blog 42: CHRISTMAS 🎄

MERRY CHRISTMAS GYB Family!! Thank you for joining us for another amazing Word Wednesday post. Christmas is my favorite time of the year. What’s your favorite time of the year? Let’s get started on our amazing topic of the day!

Christmas. When we think of Christmas we usually think of the lights, the music, the decorations, deals perhaps, etc. It’s all great! It’s all wonderful, don’t you think? Christmas time is a very special time not just because we receive presents or family comes to visit or you go to visit family but it’s Jesus’s BIRTHDAY 🎂 🥳 🎉 🎁 🎈🎊!! Thousands of years ago Jesus was born on Christmas day. Christmas is the day His “mission” began. The mission to save people from their sins, heal the broken, do miracles that no one has ever seen, etc. Christmas is even a bigger deal now that we know it’s Jesus’s birthday. It’s a day we eat, open gifts, hangout with family and friends, of course, but it’s also the day our Savior was born in a manger in Bethlehem. Manger?, Bethlehem?, etc you may wonder. Don’t worry we will get to all of that.

In a song called “We All Need Jesus” sung by Danny Gokey and Koryn Hawthorne it has some lyrics that ties in with a meaning Christmas ( at least to me ). Mind if I share them?

Yeah, it's just a wounded world we live in (a wounded world)
It's really not the way it's supposed to be
(The way it's supposed to be)
Isn't that the beauty of redemption? (Redemption)
It changes everything

Guys, we all live in “a wounded world” like the song says. People all around us are hurting even if they don’t show it. They, we, me, you, all need Jesus. “It's really not the way it's supposed to be”. Jesus wants all of us to know we are loved and cared for! This is my comment to the next lyric: Yes, yes it is. “The beauty of redemption”. Agreed? “It changes everything”, amen. You might be wondering I don’t get how this ties into Christmas. During this time, especially, we should be sharing Christ with others! We should be telling others there is a REDEEMER who was born thousands of years ago on Christmas Day that wants to take care of their every need, etc. They are redeemed and forgiven. Si (yes in Spanish) , oui (yes in French ), yes, amen, hallelujah, etc. However you want to say it… Jesus CHANGES EVERYTHING.

Now I am going to share the story of how and when our Savior was born. Maybe not how you imagined, or thought, etc but like I said before God doesn’t always do things the way we imagine or think but He always does His will. Let’s dig in to the story of Jesus’ Birth.

( Matthew 1:18-25 and Luke 1:26-38)

Mary who was engaged to Joseph, a carpenter, was a virgin. An angel of the Lord, Gabriel, came unto Mary and said this. Luke 1:28-32,” The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.  He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”” Mary said to the angle ( I am paraphrasing, if the letters are not in bold print I’m not quoting the Bible ) What do you mean, she basically says. I’m a virgin. The angel told her the Holy Spirit would come unto her and she would be pregnant. She said, verse 36, ““I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.” Talk about wanting to do the Lord’s will, am I right? Mary told Joseph and he thought, basically, she cheated on him. He wanted to cut off the wedding, in secret so he wouldn’t disgrace her in front of everyone. Why? Joseph loved her and didn’t want to do it in public. Let me take this moment to say, cutting off weddings back then was a BIG deal. Today in our times, not as much. Verses 20-21, ”But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus,[c] because he will save his people from their sins.” So he didn’t cancel the wedding but then another thing arose. Mary and Joseph had to pack their things and go to Bethlehem because the Roman emperor called for the taxes to be paid. Mary, at this time, was due to have the baby any day now. Joseph put Mary on the donkey and left Nazareth and headed to Bethlehem. When they finally arrived in the city, they couldn’t find anywhere to sleep. All the inns were full. One man had a stable they could sleep in for the night so they stayed there. Then, that very night, in a stinky stable, I would guess, with some sheep, horses, etc Jesus was born in a manger. I bet you are like, 😮😮😮🥹🥹🥹🧐🧐🧐. Maybe not how you thought or imagined but the Lord’s will happened. He was born.

You can keep going and read on how when Jesus was born a bright star was in the sky. Three men who was with their sheep on a hill knew Jesus was born when they saw it, etc. They traveled and stopped in towns to look for Him. Mean King Herod heard of the baby and wanted Him killed because he didn’t want anybody taking over his reign, etc. The men eventually reached where Jesus was and presented him three gifts, etc. Anyway, I encourage you to read more but the main reason I wanted to share this story with you is because I wanted you to know Christmas is day we can celebrate our Savior’s birth who was born thousands of years ago to save us from our sins and make a way so that we can one day live with Him up in Heave. Jesus loves you and me very much. One day, he is going to come down to earth and get all of His children once everyone on Earth has had a chance to know Him and put their faith in Him.

THANK YOU GUYS FOR READING!!!! No encouraging quote or song today but instead an encouraging message from your girl. Go read the story of Jesus for yourself in the Bible. Read/share it with friends, family, teachers, etc!! Tell people about our Savior!!! See you guys next week for our LAST post of 2022.✌🏽❤️✌🏽
