Blog 68: Spiritual Gifts
Hey GYB community! Happy Word Wednesday! I’m Silas Gill and I am so excited to be the guest speaker for this month!
Today we will be talking about gifts! And no, not the kind of gift you get at Christmas or your birthday, I mean spiritual gifts from God. Whatever your gift is, whether it is compassion, leadership, or anything else, you should use it in the way that serves others and best glorifies God, and if you aren’t sure what your gift is or how to use it, pray and ask The Lord to help you identify your gifts and how you should use them. Spiritual gifts aren’t just the gift of prophecy or the gift of tongues, it’s also small acts of kindness or anything else that He uses, through you, to spread His love and compassion.
Here’s a couple of bible verses about gifts:
Romans 12:6-8
“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying,
then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then
teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is
to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.”
1 PETER 4:8-11
“Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of
sins. Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay. God has given
each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do
you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through
you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God
supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and
power to him forever and ever! Amen.”
MATTHEW 25:35-40
“For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and
you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and
you visited me.’ “Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and
give you something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see
you sick or in prison and visit you?’ “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these
my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’
