Blog 38: Thankful

Hey GYB Fam! Happy WORD WEDNESDAY! I hope you all are well! Tomorrow is Thanksgiving as we all know. Maybe you are getting ready for Thanksgiving activities, prepping food, getting ready for family to visit, etc. Today’s topic is Thankful. Shall we get started?

What are you thankful for? Wait a minute. To know what you are thankful for, you have to know the meaning of thankful right? It means “expressing gratitude and relief”. I would like for us to express what we are grateful for and relieved to have. Can I tell you some things I am thankful for?

1. Jesus

2. A Family

3. A Home

4. The Bible

5. Books

6. A dog

7. Homeschooling

8. Friends

9. Freedoms

10. A website/YouTubing

11. Clothes

What do you think about my list? Grab a piece of paper and a pen/pencil or type it up on Word doc, Notes, etc what you are grateful for. I enjoy going to church because it’s my time to thank the Lord for everything He did and does in my life. For letting me live another day, air to breathe, clothes to wear, dying on the cross for me, etc. Psalm 106:1, “Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” He is GOOD you guys. Very good to all of us. I want to praise Him everyday I live because I am thankful for Him. Who are some people in your life you thankful for? The people you are thankful for, I encourage you to go tell them that. You might just make their day, saying to them I love you and I am thankful for you. Show the people you are thankful for, they are loved, appreciated, and cared for.

Before we rap up for today, I want to share a Bible story on how Jesus was thankful no matter what. He is our example, isn’t He?

(John 11) The Death of Lazarus

Mary and Martha were sisters. Not Mary like Jesus’s mom, a different one. They had a brother named Lazarus, who died 4 days before. They told Jesus ( paraphrasing ), Oh Jesus if you were here sooner, our brother wouldn’t have died. They were crying, mourning, etc. Jesus told them to take them to their brother’s tomb. He asked for the stone over the tomb to be moved. John 11: 41-43, “So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me.” When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!”" Notice believers, before He did anything He THANKED the Lord. Not only did Jesus give thanks, He had faith that Lazarus would come out. The next thing you know. Lazarus walks out of the tomb. Verse 44, “The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face.” No matter the circumstances. The problems around us. How big the mountains might seem. BE thankful for what you have, what you got, and what you will receive in the future. Let’s be thankful now and in advance like Jesus.

A quote by a woman well known in history and has been the first woman of her race to do many also big things. Oprah Winfrey. “Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough.”

What you have, my friends, be thankful for it. “you’ll end up having more”. Which is very true. When we do what Jesus tells us to do, we our blessed and we have more, right? He trusts us with more. “If you concentrate on what you don't have” ,you will never truly be happy with what you got or you will always be searching for more.

It’s hard to find a family who truly cares, friends who are there no matter what, teachers who want the absolute best for you, etc. Don’t take it for granted if you have a family who cares, friends who are there for you no matter what, teachers who want the best for you, etc. Be THANKFUL and grateful for everything. LOVE YOU GUYS!!! THANK YOU FOR READING! SEE YOU ALL NEXT WEEK!!! ENJOY THANKSGIVING 😊!✌🏽❤️✌🏽
