Blog 83: My Prince Charming

Hey GYB Fam!

God has been SPEAKING nonstop! As I've been on a 40-day fast, I've become more attuned to His voice, and His alone. I’ve stepped away from the noise and distractions that social media brings, allowing myself to focus solely on Him. During this time, my bedroom is currently under “construction,” so I’ve been having an extended sleepover with my sister, Kai.

One night, as I lay in bed, staring up at the ceiling, my eyes landed on her canvas portrait of all the Disney princesses. In that moment, I started thinking about each of their Prince Charmings’. Then, it hit me—Children of God, we all have one, too. His name is Jesus.

Today’s Word Wednesday topic is a little unusual, but it's exactly what YOU and I need. Welcome to “My Prince Charming.”

We live in a world obsessed with who’s dating who, who likes who, and all the drama in between. But here's what I've noticed: we often look to mere mortals to satisfy our deepest needs. We turn to imperfect, sinful people, yet neglect the One who is truly the Satisfier of our souls.

The princesses wait in their towers, hoping and dreaming of their Prince Charming. But as Children of God, there’s no need for us to stay up all night dreaming of someone. We already have Someone who loves us deeply and desires for us to love Him back.

How can we truly love others if we don’t first love our true Prince Charming?

Prince Naveen might be a smooth operator, Aladdin might have you gazing up at the stars on a flying carpet, Prince Charming might be dashing, Prince Adam (aka The Beast) might sweep you off your feet, and Prince Eric might be a lot of fun. But none of them compare to the depth of love our Father gives.

Ephesians 3:17-10 (NIV): "So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God."
