Blog 1: Fruits 🍌 of the Spirit VS Sinful Nature

Hello, everyone ! My name is Sarai. Welcome to my very FIRST Word Wednesday blog post. Today’s topic is … well you might have guessed it already, but, just in case it’s “ Fruits of the Spirit vs. Sinful Nature “. I bet your’e thinking, “what do you mean vs.?” Our Sinful Nature and our Spiritual Fruits are always at battle. The Fruits of the Spirit are peace, love, joy, goodness, faithfulness, patience, gentleness, and self control. Sinful Nature is selfishness, pride, disobedience, envy, greed, anger, fighting, and well you get the idea. In the Bible, there’s a book called Romans. Romans, chapter 7, verse 18 ( Romans 7:18 ) says, “For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my Sinful Nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.” God wants us to have the Fruits of the Spirit and cherish our fruits but the devil wants us to use our Sinful Nature. For example, when your mom says she’s going to cook dinner but suddenly she gets a phone call from work and it’s been 30 minutes already and your’e really hungry. The right decision could be to go grab a snack and be patient. The wrong decision would be to interrupt your mom’s phone call and ask her to hurry up and cook dinner because you’re hungry. That would be called “ The Battle of Patience “. The devil is going to tempt us to do all sorts of things like disobey, fight, and more but we can’t fall into the temptations of Sin. We have to do the right thing and the right thing is to use one of fruits of the spirit to win the spiritual battle. Let’s read our verse again. Romans 7:18 says “ For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.” Towards the end of the verse it says, “ but I cannot carry it out”. What does that mean to you? To me it means that I cannot do good things on my own. I need the Lord to help me make the right decisions because I am human and I make mistakes like every human being. The more time we spend with God learning about him and praying to him, it will be easier to win spiritual battles. It feels bad and sometimes sad when you lose a game, right? It will feel the same way if you lose a spiritual battle! So, let’s learn more about Jesus and spend more time with him so the next time we’re faced with a spiritual battle we will be ready. Thank you so much for reading. I’ll be posting every other Wednesday. I really wish I could post weekly but with all my school work and after school activities I’m really busy. Please subscribe to my blog so you can be the FIRST to be notified when I make a new post. See you all soon!!! Bye !!!
